Romania is famous both for having some really bad roads but also for having one of the most picturesque mountain roads in Europe.

In this article, we will look at the top 10 facts about the motorway connecting Arad and Timisoara, the two westernmost Romanian cities and a gateway to and from Western Europe.

Hai să începem. Let’s begin.

1. The Arad-Timișoara Motorway is the second last section of the partially opened A1 Motorway which intends to connect the capital city Bucharest with the western part of Romania.

2. The Arad-Timișoara Motorway is 32.25 kilometers long and runs between the cities of Arad and Timișoara.

3. The motorway took 5 years to build, with construction starting in 2008 and ending in 2013. That’s an average of 6.45 km built per year! Hmm…

4. The total width of the motorway is 26 meters.

5. The motorway includes four 3.75-metre circulation lanes, two lanes each way.
