T – 7 days: Indoor Archery World Cup in Singapore

By 30/11/2012Archery

With just seven more days to go, the countdown to the Indoor Archery World Cup in Singapore has begun and I can say that I feel both confident and excited. My shooting form and results are steady, with the last four recorded scores being in the 280-range: 280, 284, 285 and 286. If I can shoot anything above 280 during the real competition, then I’ll be more than happy.

In the past week I’ve concentrated more on shooting quality arrows rather than quantity. I’ve got no problems drawing my 45 lbs bow and keeping it steady, so what I want now is to send all the arrows in the gold. The closer to the center, the better. I’m also practicing with fellow recurve archers individual matches in competition format and it seems that I can stay focused and shoot well for consecutive matches.

Last week I trained together with Alryck Fournet-Fayard, a 16-year-old French archer studying and training in Thailand. He participated in last year’s Indoor Cup in Singapore; he is also going this year so we made time to shoot a few individual matches against each other.
