Getting a hair cut in Thailand

I visit the barber’s at least once a month. For me, it’s too hot in Thailand to have hair longer than one cm, so I regularly have my head shaved. For the last six or seven years I’ve been going to the same barber on Soi Mahathai in Bangkok where, for 70 baht, I can get my head all smooth and shiny.

Usually clients also get a quick, but strong, shoulders and head massage, but I don’t know why I didn’t get the one last time I shaved my head. Maybe it was because I didn’t look like one of the usual suspects, who lets the barber shave their entire face, forehead, cheeks and earlobes too!

After the barber was done with the razor, he wanted to lower the seat and shave my face too. I told him that I didn’t want to. I tried it for a few times, but my beard is too hard and they always cut me or leave uncut patches of beard around my chin. And I wasn’t curious about anyone trimming my nose hairs either…
