Day 19 of training: My first tournament win ever

By 15/10/2012Archery

On Sunday, Bangkok Archery together with NAAT organized a friendly tournament at 18m. It was meant to test how archers shooting at Hua Mark Archery Field in Bangkok perform during a competition-like event.

Although almost half of the archers who registered were beginners, I also joined the event. It was a great opportunity for me to train for the Indoor Archery World Cup in Singapore.

The weather was good, though a bit too hot. After two scores, I was on the 3rd place with 545 points (272 and 273). I missed on the second position by just two 10s, while the first place was taken by an archer from Lampang Sports School.

I wanted to shoot at least 280 points twice, but I just couldn’t find my form. After lunch we started the individual matches. I was pretty confident and shot extremely well. At the end of the day I was participating in the “gold medal match” against the second seed. I won 6-0.

It was my first win ever in any kind of tournament with at least 20 participating archers. Of course, I’m not trying to fool anyone (especially myself). The top Thai archers did not join this event but rather were there to support and encourage the rest of us.

 54 more days to go!
