I’m Voicu Mihnea Simandan, a Romanian-born Positive Psychology Counsellor and Mindfulness Meditation Facilitator, Psychology Teacher, and Archery Coach. I live in Beijing, China.
My research and study focus now is on the application of Positive Psychology to Life, Business & Sports in order to Empower Personal Growth. I call this my “Positive Psychology Journey“. While on this journey of self-empowerment, I hope to achieve an Upgraded Lifestyle.
My video-podcast, Crossroads Psychology, centers around the idea that all fields of knowledge should also have a practical application to daily life and not be just theoretical constructs with no real-life application. Together with my guests, I explore how such domains as psychology, technology, education, art, travel, archery, and martial arts provide actionable insights.

Since I moved to China in 2018, I have been pursuing an auto-ethnographic project through the exploration of the Four Arts of the Chinese scholar or siyi (四藝) in Chinese. The long-term goal is the mastery of the qín (琴, the guqin, a stringed instrument), qí (棋, the strategy game of go), shū (書, Chinese calligraphy) and huà (畫, Chinese ink-wash painting). Together, these Four Arts are also referred to as qínqíshūhuà (琴棋書畫).
I am specialized in Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London • Mindfulness at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience in the UK • Positive Psychology at the Positive Psychology Center, University of Pennsylvania • Education at the University of Southern Queensland • History and Literature at “Vasile Goldis” University, Romania.
I have represented my country Romania at many international archery events including the Word Cup (Shanghai), the Asian Grand Prix (Bangkok) and the Indoor World Cup (Singapore).
I have also written extensively on various topics related to travel and literature. My fiction and non-fiction books are available on Amazon.com (see Books page here).
My passions include traveling, archery, martial arts, and drawing mandalas.
I have been in the education industry since 2001. I have taught subjects in Humanities, Social Studies and Social Science in Romania, Thailand, Qatar, and China.
