Forest Preservations

According to the locals, the monks had a discussion with top government officials to pass their plea on forest preservation. They intended to defend the fact that Singapore is known as the ‘Lions’ City,’ and no development and civilization should compromise that. The monks were simply concerned that cutting the bushes and trees would chase away the lions.

Fortunately, the government took the plea seriously, and most of the forest areas are heavily protected. Most tourists want to visit such areas and meet the wild in its natural form.

Urban Reservoirs and Parks

Apart from the natural forests in the wild and untouched habitats, Singapore is also working to create urban parks and reservoirs. If you visit the Marina Barrage, you will get to enjoy one of the best dams in the city. According to statistics, most tourists are eager to visit the reservoir on their first day of visiting Singapore.

When it comes to town parks, the Pasir Ris town park provides an example of great sustainability in tourism preservation. Lone individuals and people with families can walk into the park for a stroll as they enjoy the many species of animals and birds found there.

Singapore Zoos

Most tourists are fond of zoos where they can get to see all the animals in Singapore in one place. The government, in collaboration with private shareholders, has taken a keen interest in keeping animals at the zoo. In fact, the animals that seem to be at risk of extinction are first protected in the zoo, and their offspring are released back to their natural habitats under various programs.

The Artificial Attractions

Who said tourism is all about wildlife? Singapore also boasts a great share of artificial attractions that bring tourists to the country. The Marina Bay is a great example of a man-made feature that is almost becoming the symbol of Singapore to the world. It is not possible to visit the country and fail to visit the nightlife at Marina Bay or to take your kids to the Universal Studio’s theme park.

Singapore Tourism Rationale

Many factors can be attributed to promoting a higher rate of tourism in this country. The security, state of the art airports and ease of getting a visa are in addition to the above efforts. Further, most people can now afford to use some disposable income on tourism. However, the government has played a great role in supporting, promoting and enabling sustainable tourism in Singapore.
