If you’re in Bangkok’s Asok area, you’re probably melting in Thailand’s tropical heat. Shopping malls are considered by many to be the best escape from the Thai scorching sun. If you’re about to take “refuge” in Times Square, a shopping mall and office building on Sukhumvit Road, then here are 10 things you can do here apart from taking advantage of their cool air conditioning.
10 things to do at Times Square
1. Get a drink
The first thing you should do is get a drink and possibly a quick snack to go with that drink.
2. Have a meal
If you are hungry, then there’s a good choice of restaurants here, from Thai to Korean to Chinese to international cuisine.
3. Fast food time
Not up for a fancy meal? Then you can get some fast food at Subway or the good old KFC.
4. Stop at the pharmacy
Let’s not forget the reason why you’re in there: the sun outside. How about you get some sunblock from Boots or Watson?
5. Shop for accessories
You can also look for some summer accessories. A sunhat perhaps or a pair or sunglasses? Top Charoen seems to always have a discount on glasses and sunglasses!
6. Exchange money
If you ran out of money, don’t panic. There are a few banks in Times Square and even a money exchange window.
7. Get a T-shirt with your face on it
If you’re looking for a good present for your friends back home, how about you get a T-shirt with your chosen design on?
8. Listen to the piano
Depending on the time of the day, you can also listen to Thai musicians play the piano right here in the plaza at Times Square. And it’s free!
9. Relax on a bench
The world outside this mall is quite mad. After all, this in Bangkok! A bit of quiet time on one of the benches on the first floor sounds quite nice…
10. Play pool
But, the question is, for how long can you stay still in this cosmopolitan city? How about you go to Hustlers Bangkok for a game of pool? They are located in the basement of Times Square.
How to get there?
The mall is located in the heart of Bangkok between Soi 12 and Asok Intersection. It’s got direct access from the BTS Asok skytrain station via the skywalk.
Alternatively, you come to Asok Intersection by underground. The nearest stop is Sukhumvit MRT Station. From there, it’s just a 5-minute walk to Times Square Building.
Now watch this video and see what’s it like inside the mall:
Mihnea, Interesting your article on Times Square.
For many years when I am visiting Bangkok, every Saturday I take the Sky Train from Silom and go there for lunch.
Its a great place to relax and listen to the pianist for an hour whilst planning the afternoon.
Then there are a choice of places to go close by.

Martin
Yes, totally agree. The piano “service” is just awesome.
